本種は全北区に広く分布する。寄主植物はイネ科。日本では沖縄を除く全国に分布する。頭部が細長く、前方に突出することで他種と識別できる。

This species is widely distributed in the northern hemisphere. It breeds on Poaceae. In Japan, it is widespread other than Okinawa. It can be distinguished from other species by the head elongate and slightly prolonged anteriorly.
